Only The Valiant Newsletter

OTV NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL 2013

Wassup,

I think April is going to be a pretty great month. There is just that sort of ring to it.

A lot to catch you up on for April. Wondercon just happened, Quantum & Woody was announced, Harbinger Wars is starting, Planet Death is raging, and Episode 100 is coming.

Also, one big change to the show is that we are now (approximately) weekly! We’re trying a new format of shorter episodes released more frequently. We’re going to be putting out your dose of Valiant discussion every week now. I’m sure we may miss a week here or there, but that is what we’re shooting for.

WHERE’S ONE HUNDRED?

If you watched our feed in the last couple days, you saw that Episode 101 came out on April first, seemingly in place of Episode 100. Yes, this was our little joke, and Episode 100 is still coming. We’re working on something that should be very cool, insghtful, entertaining, and fun for episode 100, so keep our eyes peeled for that. It will be coming your way the second or third week of April.

Astute listeners may have picked up on a couple other things: there is no Shadowman White, there are no price variants, and perhaps most disappointingly of all, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar didn’t leave us a voicemail.

So, um, yes. April fools.

WONDERCON

Wondercon happened last weekend. What a whirlwind. Elveen and Sean were there, selling comics, sporting Only The Valiant t-shirts, and talking with the folks at Valiant, and the fans of Valiant, and of course, OTV.

We were lucky enough to record a round table discussion with a huge group of the Valiant folks and Valiant creators. Keep an eye out later this week for the Wondercon Special Edition Podcast, where we talk to Josh Dysart (Valiant exclusive writer of Harbinger and Harbinger Wars), James Asmus (writer of the upcoming Quantum & Woody), marketing warrior Hunter Gorrinson, sales crusher Atom! Freeman, publisher of the year Fred Pierce, and the man with more letters behind his name than anyone else, Dinesh Shamdasani. We think you guys are going to love it.

Don’t tell anyone, but we here at OTV have never been huge Quantum & Woody fans, but after hearing James Asmus talk about what he has planned for the series along with the art team of Tom Fowler and Jordie Bellaire, we are stoked for this series. Quantum & Woody are going to be a great addition to the Valiant Universe.

LOOKING BACK AT MARCH

Episode 96: Machine Guns Blasting. Discussion of Archer & Armstrong #6 and #7.

Episode 97: Empires of the Mind. Harbinger has been on a tear, and we discuss Harbinger #9 and the fantastic zero issue.

Episode 98: Robert Venditti and Planet Death! V-Ditti dropped by to catch up on X-O Manowar and let us know what we have to look forward to in Planet Death. DO NOT MISS this one!

Episode 99: All Aboard the Gamma Buggy! Wow. Bloodshot #9. Clearly this book warrants some discussion. We also sneak in quick reviews of Shadowman #5 and Archer & Armstrong #8

LOOKING AHEAD TO APRIL

We’re working hard to get the upcoming Episode 100 wrapped up. We’ll have a trivia contest as part of the contest as well, with great prizes.

In addition to that, we’ve got a few things we’re keeping our eye on:

The Harbinger War Report — we’ll be discussing this big crossover between Bloodshot and Harbinger.

Shadowman should be taking us further down the rabbit hole to Deadside, and Archer & Armstrong should be wrapping up its second story arc.

Planet Death is going to be raging on. We’ve got a feeling that this story is going to shake up the status quo of X-O Manowar quite a bit more than expected, and quite differently than expected.

SO MANY GOOD THINGS

That’ll wrap this puppy up. Just as always, you can find us on Twitter, and the OTV Facebook page. Thank you all for your tweets, likes, shares, etc. It all helps us spread the word about our show.

Also, if you have any feedback for us, or things you would like to hear us talk about, shoot us an email and let us know. We love to hear your thoughts, and we promise, some day we’ll catch up with all the emails and voicemails we’ve received from you folks. Send email to onlythevaliant@gmail.com and leave us a voicemail at (270) 8-NINJAK [(270) 864-6525]

Keep on rockin’ in the free world!
