For Episode 172, the OTV crew tackles two recent zero issues!

First up, Punk Mambo Zero, with the back story of the mysterious voodoo hoodoo punk-a-roodoo from Shadowman. This issue tells us a little bit about her past and how she became who she is. This is a perplexing issue, and we aren’t exactly sure what the takeaway is.

Also, there’s a lot of similarities between this and a lot of other stories, we’ve got examples. If there was a lack in this story, we talk about some of what we would have liked to see.

Then, we visit World War I in Unity Zero.

First off, we don’t like dialect in comics. But we digress…

There seems to be a correlation between these characters and the current unity team, which we discuss.

We also compare this book to some Classic Valiant stories about Eternal Warrior in World War I.

After discussing these issues, we talk about what do we want and expect from a zero issue. Do these two issues succeed at providing a good “zero issue” experience?
